Katie & Matt | Springfield, IL Poe’s On The Hill Rustic Fall Wedding Photographer

Katie and Matt officially got married in a small, intimate ceremony on their original June 6th date. However, they finally got to have the wedding of their dreams in late September at the church Matt grew up in and it was absolutely perfect!

I met Katie for the first time when she was taking care of my bestie’s newborn baby in the nursery at Memorial. She had already booked me for her wedding, but I truly got to see how kind-hearted and nurturing she was working with all the sweet babies. She is the same way with her sweet puppies, Brody and Apollo, and Matt shares the exact same affection with them. It would be an understatement to say that Matt and Katie are completely obsessed with their dogs (people after my own heart!). Katie’s dog, Brody was with her the morning of their wedding, while Apollo stayed with his dad and it was so sweet to get some shots of them helping their humans get ready.

After Katie’s mom helped her into her dress and her bridesmaids added the final touches, we headed to the church for their ceremony! Surrounded by all of their friends and family, Katie’s step-dad finally got the chance to walk Katie down the aisle in memory of her late father and give her away to Matt. The priest blessed the rings they exchanged when they got married and they finally sealed it with a kiss! Then it was time to begin the celebration!

We headed downtown with Katie and Matt’s bridal party for portrait time. I loved that we had a large chunk of time between the ceremony and reception to photograph Katie and Matt. It was so relaxing and allowed the newlyweds to just enjoy every minute of the day! Not to mention that we had amazing weather to top it all off!

Finally, we arrived at Poe’s Catering for Katie and Matt’s reception where family and friends welcomed them, gave heartfelt speeches and watched as Mr. and Mrs. Saladino shared their first dance. Matt dancing a sweet dance with his mom and Katie and her step-dad rocked out to one of his favorite songs! We ended the evening in Poe’s beautiful backyard with a gorgeous sunset for golden hour shots. This was my favorite part of the day with Katie and Matt as they took a few quiet moments to take in the day. Even though they had to cut their guest list and make significant changes to the wedding they dreamed of, I think every part of their special day was worth the wait! I am so excited for Katie and Matt to start their lives together and I am just as excited to finally share their wedding photos!
